The rising incidence of depression is leading to increasing familial and societal challenges, as well as escalating social costs. With a prevalence rate of 4.3% globally (approximately 3.6% in China; Huang et al., 2019), a recurrence rate exceeding 75%, and treatment-seeking rates below 50%, depression ranks among the leading causes of disease burden. Given its high prevalence, recurrence, and low treatment-seeking behavior, early intervention during the onset of mild depressive symptoms is crucial to reduce incidence and alleviate the associated burden. This has emerged as a significant research focus both domestically and internationally. Our laboratory aims to explore the mechanisms underlying positive cognitions (e.g., gratitude, altruism, self-esteem, optimism, positive concepts) and experiences (e.g., life meaning) to optimize intervention strategies. The goal is to enhance well-being among the general and at-risk populations, preventing the progression of depressive symptoms.
To address these research questions, our laboratory employs a range of methodologies, including but not limited to: questionnaire assessments, psychological interventions, behavioral experiments, computational modeling, physiological recording, neuroimaging, pharmacological manipulation, genetic association studies, and meta-analyses.

Profile
Dr. Jinting Liu earned her Ph.D. from Peking University in 2015 and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, Shenzhen University. She is a recipient of the Shenzhen University Outstanding Young Faculty Training Program and has been recognized as an Excellent Class Advisor and a High-Level Professional Talent Reserve in Shenzhen. Additionally, she is a Leading Talent in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Dr. Liu's research focuses on the enhancement of positive psychology intervention strategies and the computational neural mechanisms underlying positive psychological traits. Her scholarly contributions include over 40 publications in both domestic and international journals such as Psychological Science, Behavior Research Methods, Human Brain Mapping, and Journal of Affective Disorders. Notably, she has published 21 SCI/SSCI articles as the first or corresponding author, with 18 classified as JCR Q1. Dr. Liu has led two national projects, three provincial projects, and three municipal projects. Her accolades include recognition for a first-class undergraduate course and commendation as an outstanding teacher in Guangdong Province's Online Learning Space Application Promotion.

Researchers
Dr. Yufeng Li completed her Bachelor’s degree in Education in June 2017 at the School of Education Science, South China Normal University. She earned her Master’s degree in Education in June 2020 from the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University and obtained her Ph.D. in Philosophy in October 2023 from the Faculty of Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research focuses on positive psychology, student well-being, and mental health. She has contributed to research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Beijing Social Science Foundation. Additionally, she has published papers in leading academic journals and presented her work at international conferences.
